Connecting with USA First Nation Trade Mission Delegates

During the 2022 National Reconciliation Week celebrations Tagai Management Consultants had the opportunity to attend the the Queensland Government First Nations Trade Mission Knowledge Sharing Workshop hosted by the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport at ”The Precinct”.

The Workshop provided an opportunity for all stakeholders to meet and connect with various USA First Nation businesses and business chamber representatives from Oklahoma and Texas who had been on a two week trade mission chaperoned by Austrade and Supply Nation.

The Workshop covered the following topics:

  • Government Indigenous agreement making and cultural driven economic framework mechanism;

  • Indigenous Business Month;

  • Queensland Indigenous Business representation; and

  • an opportunity to have ‘real’ discussions about First Nation challenges and opportunities in our respective countries.

When an opportunity to come together as First Nation people and businesses is presented we should leverage this opportunity to actively progress developing relationships not just leave the conversation at the door. Also, with the reinvigoration of reconnecting across borders it will be important that appropriate cultural protocols and business processes are established to ensure a respectful and trade focused “dancefloor” is established leveraging the right decision makers but guided by Indigenous peoples’ with a passion of creating a inclusive supply chain for all levels of social and commercial Indigenous enterprises at various business maturity.

We came away thankful for the invitation provided by Austrade and Supply Nation to meet with the various government, Indigenous businesses but also share spirit and experiences with our USA First Nation brothers and sisters.
