TMC on Show at Connect 2024

Tagai Management Consultants moved into top gear throughout the month of August as Supply Nation’s flagship event approached closer. ‘Connect 2024’ was a two-day affair that took place on the 28th and 29th of August. It is an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait businesses to form relationships with corporate organisations and government departments and celebrate the successes of the Indigenous business sector.

Supply Nation is a not-for-profit organisation promoting Australian supplier diversity through its leading database of certified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. Annually, they hold the occasion in Gadigal (Sydney); however, this year’s Connect was hosted in Meeanjin (Brisbane).

Connect 2024 is hosted for two days: Day 1 is the Knowledge Forum, and Day 2 is the Connect Tradeshow and Gala Dinner. The Knowledge Forum gathers the nation’s leaders in supplier diversity with Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs to discuss important conversations surrounding the Indigenous business sector. The Connect Tradeshow allows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to showcase their products and services to corporate organisations and Government departments. Lastly, the Gala Dinner is a night to celebrate individuals and organisations who won the year’s Supplier Diversity Awards in their categories.

Day 1 arrives with TMC Managing Director Murray Saylor facilitating the Stronger Together panel discussion at the Knowledge Forum. The session brought together Supply Nation and its stakeholders to discuss how they can better support businesses and grow the Indigenous business sector. Powerful conversations were exchanged throughout the panel, with speakers Simone Kenmore (Commonwealth Bank of Australia), Donisha Duff (Queensland Indigenous Business Network) and Tara Anderson (Social Traders) sharing their experiences with aiding Indigenous business development.

The back end of Day 1 was bump-in for all Tradeshow exhibitors. As a past exhibitor, the TMC team determined it was a no-brainer to exhibit as the Connect Tradeshow would be on home ground. After a couple of hours of sweat and tears, the Tagai Management Consultants stall was complete, and team members were fired up for the tradeshow ahead.

The day of the Connect Tradeshow started early, with the doors opening at 8:30 am. Organisations, Government departments, friends, and family came to the TMC stall to say hello and learn more about what the company does. The team at Tagai Management Consultants would like to thank everyone who came along and visited our stall on the day. It was wonderful to foster new relationships and cherish old ones.

As foot traffic began to slow in the afternoon, the TMC team visited other exhibitors’ stalls and learned about the amazing range of products and services that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses produce.

The day ended with the Gala Dinner – a lavish night full of celebration, good food and Blak excellence. Tagai Management Consultants hosted a table with the following guests:

  • Michael Swart, National Strategy Director, Industry Capability Network

  • Nancy Bamaga, Founder and CEO, Bamaga Productions

  • Tom Pennington, Vice President and Global Advisory Lead, Smart Cities Council

  • Sharlene Lake, Head of Human Resources and Workplace, Airbus
