Announcement of the Indigenous Business Sector Strategy

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the Indigenous Business Sector Strategy on Monday 12 February 2018 during an event to celebrate Indigenous economic development success.

Minister Scullion has highlighted  the valuable input,  stating that ‘the Government has consulted with over 200 Indigenous businessmen and women across the country, who have co-designed this blueprint for the growth of their sector‘.

In the coming months, the government will be announcing key actions under the Indigenous Business Sector Strategy, including:

• an Indigenous Business Hub in Western Sydney providing a one-stop-shop for business advice and support,
• the Indigenous Entrepreneurs Capital Scheme to improve access to finance for Indigenous businesses transitioning to mainstream banking,
• doubling  the microfinance footprint to support more entrepreneurial activity and economic development in regional and remote areas, and
• the establishment of an Indigenous Business Advisory Group to help guide the implementation of the Strategy and ensure it continues to be Indigenous-led.
