National Reconciliation Week 2023

National Reconciliation Week is celebrated annually from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June. The week is an opportunity to share and learn about Australia’s history, good or bad. The theme for this year’s National Reconciliation Week was ‘Be a Voice for Generations’.

From the 1967 Australian Referendum to the Mabo Case, many Australians – indigenous and non-indigenous – had the courage and determination to bring Australia closer to reconciliation. Being ‘a voice for generations’ means passing down the voices of generations past and learning from them.

Reconciliation is about strengthening the relationship between First Nation and non-indigenous Australians. Working together and sharing histories, cultures and achievements is one step to a better Australia.
